Help & information

Every question, answered.

Booking, cancellations, what happens on the day, and how to find us. If your question isn't here, email hello@12tribesstudios.com and we'll reply within one working day.

Booking & payment

Every session is booked online in under three minutes and confirmed instantly with a boarding pass.

How do I book a studio session?

Everything is booked online at 12tribesstudios.com/book. Choose your room, pick a date and time, add any extras, and pay. The whole thing takes under three minutes, and your booking is confirmed instantly with a boarding pass: your room, your rig, your call time. Present it at reception when you arrive.

How much does a session cost?

Studio hire starts from £162 per hour, including VAT, rising to £270 per hour for the virtual production stage. Each of the four rooms is priced by capacity and setup, and full rate cards sit under every room on the Studios page. Every price you see on this site includes VAT at 20%, so the total at checkout is the total you pay. Post-production is priced separately on the Services page.

How far in advance should I book?

Evenings and weekends go first. For a single session, a week ahead is usually comfortable; for half-day and full-day bookings, or a specific room, two to three weeks is safer. Same-day bookings are always welcome whenever the calendar shows space.

Can I see the studio before I book?

Yes, and it's free. On the booking page, choose any room and select Studio Tour as the booking type: a 15-minute guided viewing at a time that suits you. It's a request rather than an instant confirmation, and we confirm your slot by email. Prefer to just ask? Email hello@12tribesstudios.com.

Can my company pay by invoice?

For corporate, half-day, full-day and event bookings we can arrange invoicing. Email hello@12tribesstudios.com with your requirements and PO details and we'll set it up with a VAT invoice.

I record a weekly show. Do you offer block bookings?

Yes. If you record weekly, fortnightly or monthly, talk to us about a series booking: you lock in your room and your slot across the run, and we'll agree rates that reflect the commitment. Email hello@12tribesstudios.com with your schedule and we'll build it around your show.

Cancellations & rescheduling

You're not locked in. Plans change, and here's exactly how it works, in the same format as your boarding pass.

What is your cancellation policy?

Cancel or reschedule free of charge up to 48 hours before your session. Cancellations within 48 hours of the session are charged at 50% of the booking fee. Cancellations within 24 hours, and no-shows, are charged in full. The full policy is in our booking terms, and your personal deadline is shown when you pick your slot.

Can I reschedule instead of cancelling?

Please do, it's the easiest option for everyone. One free reschedule is included with more than 48 hours' notice, subject to availability. Use the reschedule link on your boarding pass or confirmation email, or write to hello@12tribesstudios.com.

What if I'm running late?

Sessions begin and end at the booked times, so a late arrival doesn't extend your slot, but call ahead and we'll do everything possible to make the most of the time left. If you need more time on the day, overtime is subject to availability, must be agreed before your booked end time, and is billed in 30-minute increments at your booked tier's hourly rate. All sessions end by 22:00.

What happens if you cancel on us?

If we ever have to cancel your session because of something on our side, equipment failure or building issues, you receive a full refund and priority rebooking at the next time that works for you. Where we can, we'll move you into another room on the day rather than cancel at all.

Your session

From the moment you present your boarding pass at reception, the only variable on the day is your story.

When should I arrive?

Ten to fifteen minutes before your call time. Present your boarding pass at reception, 152-154 Curtain Road, and we'll walk you to your room and get everyone mic'd and comfortable. Your rig is set before you walk in, so recording starts on time.

How many guests can I bring?

It depends on the room: capacities for all four rooms are on the Studios page, from two or three seats in the interview suites up to six in The Yard. Select your guest count when you book so the right number of microphones and seats are rigged before you arrive.

What should I bring?

Yourselves and your story. Cameras, microphones, lighting and recording are all handled. Bring notes or a laptop if you use them, any props or products you want in frame, and whatever you like to drink mid-conversation. For what to wear, we wrote a whole guide.

Is a crew included, or do I pay extra?

It depends on the room, and it's always clear at booking:

The Lounge and The Yard include crew on every booking. The Wooden O and The Chamberlain can be booked with a producer or self-managed at a lower rate, with a 15-minute technical handover and a producer on call in the building.

Can I record before 09:00 or after 22:00?

Our published hours are 09:00-22:00, Monday to Sunday, and all sessions end by 22:00. If your production genuinely needs an early call or a late finish, broadcast, film or an overseas guest, email hello@12tribesstudios.com and we'll see what's possible.

Studios & equipment

Four individually designed rooms, each treated as a recording studio first and a video set second.

What equipment do you record on?

Sony Cinema Line cameras, Shure SM7dB microphones, Blackmagic ATEM vision switching and multitrack audio recording, as standard on every session. Live-switched on the day, with every camera and every voice also captured separately for the edit.

Which room should I choose?

Choose by capacity, aesthetic and purpose. Each of the four rooms is profiled on the Studios page, from the flagship fireside Lounge and the twin interview suites to the green screen and virtual production stage. Not sure? Book a free Studio Tour, or email us a line about your show and your guest count and we'll recommend the right room.

How good is the sound, really?

Every room is acoustically treated to a reverberation time (RT60) under 0.30 seconds, broadcast recording-studio territory. In plain terms: no echo, no room boom, no traffic. What the microphone hears is your voice.

Do you have a green screen or virtual production?

Yes. The Yard is a dedicated green screen and virtual production stage. Book the green screen tier for keyed content and full-body production work, or the virtual production tier to shoot inside real-time Unreal Engine environments with live compositing on set. Both tiers include a technician.

Can I bring my own equipment?

You're welcome to bring instruments, props, products and set pieces. If you want to record on your own cameras or microphones alongside ours, note it in Special Requests when booking so we can plan the rig. Most requests are no problem at all.

Can you build a completely custom set?

Yes. Choose Bespoke set as the booking type on the booking page, pick your room and date, and describe the set you have in mind: mood, colours, materials, seating, backdrops, branding. Your studio time is held provisionally while we send you a design concept and a fixed quote for the set. Nothing is charged until you approve, and bespoke sets need at least 14 days' lead time.

Recordings & post-production

Record, edit, master and distribute without leaving the building, or take your raw files and run.

When do I get my recordings?

Raw multitrack audio and camera files are delivered by secure download link, typically within one working day of your session. Edited episodes and clip packages are delivered to the timeline agreed in your quote.

Who owns the content?

You do. Everything recorded in your session belongs to you, in full. If we'd ever like to feature a clip of your show on our own channels, we'll ask first.

Do you edit episodes?

Yes, it's half of what we do. Full-length episodes are edited to broadcast standard: timed, tightened and tailored for your audience, with audio sweetening and colour grading throughout. Short-form clips are captioned, graded and packaged for Instagram, TikTok and YouTube Shorts. See the post-production packages; every project is confirmed with a quote before work begins.

Can you livestream my session?

Yes. Sessions can be streamed live to YouTube, Instagram, LinkedIn or a private corporate feed, ideal for webcasts, panels and town halls, with live graphics and real-time switching. See Social Livestreaming on the Services page, and tell us the platform when you book.

Finding us

One Shoreditch address, eight minutes' walk from Old Street station.

Where exactly are you?

152-154 Curtain Road, Shoreditch, London EC2A 3AT. Eight minutes' walk from Old Street station, with Shoreditch High Street, Liverpool Street, Hoxton and Moorgate all close by. We're open Monday to Sunday, 09:00-22:00.

Is there parking? Can I load in equipment?

Curtain Road sits inside a controlled parking zone, so street parking is limited: pay-by-phone bays and nearby car parks are the best options, and honestly, we'd recommend the train. If you're loading in equipment, props or set pieces, email ahead and we'll arrange a drop-off window at the door and a hand with the carry.

Is the building accessible?

We want every guest to record comfortably. Email hello@12tribesstudios.com before you book with any access requirements, step-free needs or anything else, and we'll confirm exactly what your room and route through the building look like, and make arrangements where we can.

Where should guests wait?

Reception will look after early guests until we bring them through. If your interviewee lands twenty minutes ahead of schedule, they'll be in good hands, not on the pavement.

Still have a question?

Email us and a real person will come back to you within one working day. Or skip the questions and come see the rooms for yourself.
